I once heard of a man who needed a job but couldn't get one. Life was hard and miserable for him to live. It was hard to do things other people do. This man out of frustration went to see his church pastor. The pastor asked
what he's skilled in, the man replied, "barbing". The pastor asked if he had a clipper, he said "yes". Then the pastor thought of what he could do to help the frustrated man. The pastor asked him to give him a haircut which he did. It was good on the pastor.
The next sunday, the pastor made an announcement about the man's barbing skills. He asked that if anyone was interested to have a haircut, they should put their names down after the service. He also said that there would be a discount on every hair made coupled with the fact that, it would be a home service. The man through that was able to liberate himself off poverty and he eventually became the church's official barber. Imagine the amount of money earned in the church just with a clipper!
Why did I start with the story? It is essential to let you understand that nothing is never too small to make a change. If the man is skilled but without a clipper, the opportunity would got lost. That poor little thing is never small to make a difference in your life. The world today is filled with many people who want to start so big that they neglect the fact that every great thing starts with small things. Nothing ever come so great without the combinations of little things.
It is undisputed that you are made to do great things but it should be quite understood that you need to start with little things. A tree is trapped in a little seed. No one plants a tall tree the way it is, the little seed had to be planted to bring out the tall tree. Suppose someone say, "that poor little thing. I want a tree and not a seed, you have no value, benefit or help you can do for me, I'll rather throw you out than plant you". What do you think has happened? The man has abused the potential of greatness of that poor little thing.
Most people will find it hard to be great because they were busy searching for how to make it big and despising the poor little things in their possession. They play away with little ideas that came to them, little insight, they didn't act on them because they thought, what will it profit me? That poor little thing! Jesus Christ taught a wonderful lesson that, there is an awesome power in the little things people despise. Remember the historical account where he turned just five loaves of bread and two fishes into multiple loaves and fishes with remainders after five thousand men(excluding women and children) had eaten? The disciples despised and were pessimistic about it. They did not know what could come out of it.
In life, what you despise today can be a hit tomorrow, the idea you once had but discarded can be the talk of the day. Never think that something is too small for you to use. A big mango tree with many fruits is trapped in a little seed. Whatever it is you might have in your possession, do not despise but rather use to move yourself into greatness. The scripture asserts that, do not despise the days of small beginnings. Start small today with that poor little thing and see the result tomorrow.
Plant that poor little thing and move yourself into greatness!
