Transition: Fifteen things that will help you along the way. Series 2

6. Little Beginnings

A popular African proverb asserted that "you do not reach heaven instantly the day you are tall". Things will not just start flourishing at once. You are in a new horizon that you barely know something of and all your actions toward success will not yield in a minute, they will definitely start yielding one after the other.
  The problem with most people who just transited to a new horizon is that they want things to start working out as fast as possible and life does not work in such sense. You need to understand the fact that things that come very fast are dangerous and you need to have the agility of mind to accept things as they are and embrace they days of little and small beginnings.

7. Skills Acquisition

We are currently in an age that if you do not have any skill, you are irrelevant. Your academic qualifications are never enough and if you think they are enough, look beyond borders and shores and examine the lives of influential people around the world, you will understand that most of them had to acquire more skills for relevancy.
  You are in a new environment and whatever you might be up to, you need to acquire more skills. As a speaker for instance, I know that I am already moving far above the ordinary level, I know that I am in transition to a new horizon and to make my journey efficient, I had to apply for a job opportunity at a tutorial centre to teach students and in the process upgrade my speaking skills and it eventually paid off as my skills got sharpened.
  I shared with my whatsapp friends about a man in the scripture who had more than twelve skills. I was intrigued by this and I understand what the scripture meant by saying "a man's gift will make room for him". The man's skills made him to be recommended to a king who wanted to build a wonderful house.
  Do you want to be recommended to kings and great men ? If your answer is yes, you had better acquire skills that suits you and your purpose.

8. Progression

It is not just enough to be in a new environment, you are not the only one that transited to the environment. Therefore, you seriously need to get to work and progress onward. Do not waste time waiting on parameters that will not help you accomplish your dreams. You need to progress. Of what use is a car without progression ?
  Do not just sit down and expect things to happen automatically, make them happen manually and the ones that need to happen automatically will eventually happen without struggles. Progress onward.

9. Passions

Do you have the passions that will make the journey worthwhile for you ? Are you a new student in a college, can your passions survive you in the race to the top ? Maybe you are into a relationship, will the passion make the relationship worthwhile ? Apparently you just get a new job, all things being equal, can your passion make you last long and make you skyrocket to the top echelon in the organization ?
  Irrespective of what you are engaged in, passion is essential as it will determine your progress. A portion of the scripture asserts that "whatsoever your hand findeth to do, do it with all your might". Have the passion that will commensurate your progress.

10. Personal Development

This is essential to your life. Physical  and Spiritual development play wonderful role in the life of a man so does personal development.
Personal development involves the process of uplifting oneself with materials that can inspire one to achieve the best.
  Understand the fact that you do not know all things regarding your new environment and you need successful people to put you through. Oftentimes, you cannot meet these people in person but they have put down what they have learnt over the years in audio tapes, books, magazines, journals, articles, among others. Therefore, for you to go far and to have a great life where you have transited to, endeavour to develop yourself through listening to tapes, reading uplifting books, articles, journals, magazines, attending conferences and seminars, among others.
  You only live once and that once as it were deserve the best. Develop your personal life !

Afterthoughts

• You do not know all in that new environment, wisdom demands that you put all things in order.

• Your progress is determined largely by the quality of your productive activities.

• Personal development is Paramount to your life. Develop yourself to be the best.
